The Interfaith Center of New York is proud to celebrate the powerful history and contributions of Black communities, especially in the world of interfaith organizing and advocacy. Just a few weeks out from Martin Luther King Jr. Day, we are reminded that Black faith communities and leaders have always channeled their faith to pursue social justice. Black theologians, such as James Cone and Delores Williams, pioneered conversations of liberation and womanist theology, both of which offered critical language to Christian (and non-Christian) communities around the intersections of race, gender, and faith.
